We spent a few days based at Poolewe in Wester Ross at the end of July. We had superb weather during this trip and managed to get out on the MV Kerry into the Minch where we saw some excellent wildlife. We also spent a nice afternoon at the famous Inverewe gardens.

On Tuesday 25th July we spent a fine afternoon exploring the gardens at Inverewe. They are very well laid out with lots of different walks through different areas and at times it is easy to forget that you are actually in North West Scotland.

The next day we had booked a trip aboard the MV Kerry from Gairloch Harbour where we hoped to see some of the wildlife which can be found in this remote corner of Scotland.
We had an early start but after a filling breakfast at the Poolewe Hotel we drove down to the Harbour to board the Kerry.

We took a drive down the coast road from
Poolewe to Cove and onto the Rubha nan
Sasan point where the convoys heading
for Russia left during the Second World
War.There is a Memorial Stone and a
lot of the old gunposts are still standing.
Magnificent views can be had across
Loch Ewe and out towards Skye and
the Western Isles.

Torridon Mountains

This was only a short visit
up to Wester Ross and I
cant wait to return to this
unspoilt part of Scotland
to explore some more.
There is so much to see
and do and the scenery
is quite stunning with
both freshwater and sea
lochs and some of the
most spectacular
mountains to be found
anywhere in Scotland.

We had a nice drive
home back via
Achnasheen and Garve
to Dingwall and the Black
Isle then over the Kessock
Bridge to Inverness. We
stopped at Aviemore for
lunch and to pick up some
supplies from the Butchers.
