This April we again drove out to Chaley Guytaune in Morzine. We had been out last year at the same time when Craig was
only 6 Months old.
Our journey down to the Alps started with an overnight stay at my Sisters in Cheshire before we caught a Norfolkline
ferry from Calais to Dunkirk. This was cheaper than Eurotunnel on this date and gave Craig his first journey on a boat.
We booked in at the Ibis Hotel in St.Omer. This was only about 45 mins drive from the docks but Craig was asleep when
we arrived. We payed €7 for secure parking then took a walk to a small restuarant in the main square for dinner.
The next day we had an easy drive south to the lovely medieval city of Troyes where we stayed in the Mercure Hotel. This was
a modern spacious Hotel with secure underground parking. Again we had dinner in the centre of town.
The next morning it was the final leg of the journey to Morzine. We stopped for lunch at the Aire du Jura which is a
lovely place and puts British service stations to shame. We stopped for fuel near Bourg en Bresse and it then started to snow
when we got to Cluses and continued all the way up to Les Gets and Morzine.
We got settled into the large quad bedroom upstairs, met some of the other guests and had a lovely dinner before retiring
to bed.
Next morning we woke to a nice cover of freh snow in the village which meant things would be pretty decent higher up.
Craig was again being looked after by Cheekymonkeys. They send a nanny to the chalet each morning to take care of the
children. This year we had 3 different nannies and the company did not impress at all this year.
Anyway we had a fine weeks snowboarding in all conditions from fresh powder to bluebird sunny days to wet and miserable.
That is what springtime is all about.
Our favourite areas this week were Ardent,Lindarets and then over Linga and down towards Chatel. The Burton bio park
was also great fun.
On the final Saturday we went down to the Rhodos bar to watch QOS beat Aberdeen 4-3 in the Scottish cup semi-final. Whata
game and what a performance.
On the sunday we were all packed up and ready for the journey home. We again stopped in Troyes but stayed in the Ibis
Hotel then the next day drove to Calais where we stayed in the Ibis Calais car ferry Hotel which is convenient and handy.
We used Eurotunnel to return to the UK and headed back to Cheshire and on to Dumfries the next day.
Below are some pics from the trip.
