It had been a number of years since we had spent a week or more having a Holiday at home in Scotland so I was looking forward to our week staying in a bungalow at Dalfaber,Aviemore.
We drove up on the afternoon of Sat 18th of June 2005. It was a warm day and after a stop at Stirling services we arrioved at our house for the week,No125 Dalnaby by 5pm. It is a lovely little bungalow with two bedrooms and a decent sized garden with a BBQ at the rear with great views over the Cairngorms.

We were fortunate that our week was blessed with generally good weather and none of our daytrips were disrupted by it.
On Sunday we made up a picnic and decided to start the week with an easy walk in Rothiemurchas estate by walking round the beautiful Loch an Eilean. Its a drive up to Inverdruie then onto a track towards the Loch. We had our picnic then walked on round the Loch and returned to the car via Loch Deo and Coylumbridge. We finished the afternoon off by sitting outside the Winking Owl for a refreshing pint.

On Monday the 20th of June we woke early to find the weather looking good for our planned walk in the Cairngorms. We drove up to the Cairngorm carpark and set out at about 9.45am. We walked up beside the funicular track to the Sheiling and then on up Coire Cas to the Traverse  and up to the Ptarmigan. We then followed the path up to the summit of Cairngorm where we had a coffee break sheltering behind the weather station.

We then headed down towards the cliffs of Coire an t Schneachda and Coire an Lochan. It was cool and breezy as we had lunch. We had a nice walk down before driving over to Loch Morlich where we took a stroll along the beach and let Poppel have a play in the water.
Got back to town and bought some nice food from the butchers and when we got back to the house we got the BBQ going.

The next day,Tuesday we decided to take a day off from the Hills and went for a drive. We went along the back road from Coylumbridge via Boat of Garten and Nethybridge over to Grantown on Spey. We stopped and took Poppel for a short forest walk before driving onto Forres , Kinross and onto Burghead where we took a long walk along the beach. It was then onto Nairn for some lunch and another walk along the shore hoping to spot some Dolphins but we were not in luck today. We drove back to Aviemore via Inverness and Carrbridge where we stopped  for a stroll and a look at the old Bridge.

Wed 22nd June was slightly overcast when we got up but the forecast was for improvement as the day went on. After breakfast we set of for the Sugar Bowl carpark which is on the road up to Cairngorm. Our aim for today was Braeriach in what would be a 17 to 18 mile walk. Its a clear path up to the Chalamain Gap and then onto open hillside  down to the site of the old Sinclair Hut at the burn on the Lairig Ghru. We stopped here for a quiet picnic lunch.
